License Activation Guide

Activation and licensing guidance: signatures, seat limits, offline use, and recovery.

View repository View synthetic scenario
License Activation Guide cover: entitlements, signatures, and evidence.

Why it exists

Successful activation is only part of licensing. The guide helps agents define who issues entitlements, where they are verified, and which operations depend on them.

It supports design, implementation, auditing, and diagnosis in any language. Dedicated references cover Rust, Windows, and LAN services without requiring those technologies.

It separates commercial decisions from implementation: license units, validity, connectivity, limits, and recovery must reflect the product’s rules.

What it reviews

  • Issuing authority, signatures, and trust boundaries.
  • Scope, identity, and validity of verified documents.
  • Atomic seat limits and retries without duplicate activations.
  • User authorization independent of licensing.
  • Offline use, renewal, and recovery from partial failures.
  • Negative tests, concurrency, persistence, and restarts.

From experience to reusable guidance

The skill collects general decisions from activation and licensing systems. It preserves architecture and verification criteria without publishing private protocols, credentials, or implementation details.

Its examples are synthetic. One places two devices in competition for the last seat with a lost response to explain the decisions and tests that flow requires.

Version 0.1.0 includes eight package-maintenance tests. They do not run a licensing implementation or establish copy resistance or instant revocation for offline clients.

Installation

Install it from the published repository with the Skills CLI.

pnpm dlx skills add elpeakyblinder/skill-license-activate --skill skill-license-activate

Run the command from the project directory where you want to use it.
